I’ve moved – to RE/MAX Access!

I’ve got a new desk.
Ok, so it’s more than just a desk. It’s a new view out of the window, a new office, a new break room, a new batch of agents to learn from, a new broker, a new address, and a new company to call home – RE/MAX Access in Garden Ridge, Texas. Why the sudden change? It really wasn’t all that sudden, it was carefully planned and thought out. Changing brokers is a big step for any real estate agent, not only is there the fear, doubt, and uncertainty of “will I fit into to the new office?,” but there is also the paperwork, changes all over the internet (you know how many pages out there have my contact info and company name?), ordering of new business cards, changing of listings, etc. It can be a bit overwhelming for a moment, but it’s all about change.
In order to expand my knowledge and search out the next level in real estate for myself, I felt I needed something more out of the company I was affiliated with. I had done my homework on a few places, but the day I met Sheila and Kristin Moran and Pat O’Brien, I knew I had found what I was looking for. Kristin and I had been online “friends” for awhile, but had never met face to face. She was someone I respected and admired in real estate and she had helped me more than once when I had a question. There was something there that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it was a combination of Sheila and Pat’s words about “crossing the line and pushing forward” and the feeling that I would get a certain sort of motivation combined with strong support that would help me to work harder and do better.

I have only been in the office two days and am getting acclimated quickly. I continue to serve my clients (both past and new) on the Northwest and North Central sides of town and am experiencing life in Garden Ridge as well now. I see it as a great opportunity to learn more about the Northeast corridor and find some new neighborhoods I might not have know about in the past. If you live in the Garden Ridge area, stop by and say hello. If you live further away, don’t worry, where there’s a Starbucks – I have an office. Join me for a cup of coffee and we can discuss your real estate needs. To set up an appointment, just contact me.

Matt,
Congrats ! Not knowing all the details, I still think it will be a great move for you ! Hope you have a smooth transition and things really work out well for you with the move !
Chris
Chris – It was one of those moments where I knew I needed something different out of my broker. Technology obviously played a big role (we Twitter to communicate half the time) as well as a desire to get that “push” from a new situation that would help move me forward. The transition is going well, although I still find myself asking simple questions (what’s my copy code?, how does this work?, do we have _____?), but those will become second nature soon enough.
I already see my daily activity increasing and I’m still getting settled.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, maybe this means we’ll get to meet up somewhere along the way!
Hey Matt, good move! RE/MAX is an excellent organization that has long-term recognition with consumers and has been very pro-active for agents for 35 years. Welcome aboard.
Doug – It’s been great! I definitely see a value to the RE/MAX name, but for me it was all about the value of the broker and the people they have brought on board. We’re a great office of agents who want nothing more than to succeed and make real estate a great place. I’m happy to see people with the levels of enthusiasm that I had hoped to find when I first started and can’t wait to see what we as an office accomplish and what I personally can accomplish being affiliated with them.
Thanks for the welcome and for stopping by!
So how is the move working out? Seen a lot of bloggin’ from you, much sellin’?

Doug – I had a great start and have slowed down a bit for the last month, but I should have a few closings before the end of the year. Starting to build my plans for 2010 now.
The move is definitely the best thing I could have done as far as I’m concerned. Business is better and my confidence and excitement are better too.
