Typo Leads To Interesting Find
Oops, I didn’t mean that.
This morning, I was heading over to my YouTube videos to grab the embed code for something when I made a mistake. Instead of typing “youtube,” I inadvertently threw in an extra letter and wound up with “yourtube.” Typically when I make a mistake in a URL, it results in a page full of garbage about how I can own this domain or the browser tells me the site doesn’t exist. Not today. Instead, I discovered www.yourtube.com. A simple Wordpress photo blog, yourTube is just a collection of photos relating to the London Underground (the Tube).
I spent a lot of time in London, both with my band and while my wife (who lived there) and I were first dating. The photo I used for this post is the Putney Bridge station, which I used quite often when we did a writing/rehearsal session nearby. I was at that station twice a day for two weeks. Although yourTube looks like it might be out of commission (the last post was on September 13th, 2009) and it has way too many pop up ads for my taste, I found it to be fun to go through page after page of London Underground photos. If you’ve never been to London and taken a ride on the Tube, you should put it on your list of things to do. England prides itself on its rail systems and there’s a reason – they work, they’re on time, and people use them. I miss being able to get to one end of town to the other for what amounted to spare change. In San Antonio, a lack of any sort of subway, makes me miss other cities (Philadelphia and Los Angeles) I’ve lived in a bit.
So spend a bit of time checking out these fascinating photos of the world’s best transportation system (as far as I’m concerned). And if you ever get the chance, head to London and take a ride on the Tube, it’s well worth it.
