San Antonio Camera Phone: Brush Fire
Red Flag warnings should be taken seriously.
Yesterday I stopped to get a drink at the What-a-burger on I-10 and DeZevala to grab a drink. I had been out showing homes all day and was absolutely parched. As I left the store, I noticed a small fire had started on the embankment between the highway and the frontage road. Within a minute, the fire was blazing out of control and the San Antonio Fire Department had arrived. The air was thick with smoke and bits of cinder and ash. You couldn’t even see I-10 from where I was standing by the time the fire crews got to work. I snapped a few quick shots just to show how easily a fire can be started with an errant cigarette or an unattended fire or grill. These fires spread quickly thanks to the super dry fuel of dead grass and brush. We need rain. Badly.
