“Do you believe in miracles?”

He shoots, he scores.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a big hockey fan. I have a large collection of hockey jerseys and watch as much as I can. Here in San Antonio, we don’t have an NHL team, but we do have an AHL team, the San Antonio Rampage. We do get most of the Dallas Stars‘ games on TV (despite the occasionally ridiculous blackout rules that prevent us from picking up the national feed when it’s on local Dallas TV) and you can often find me on my couch cheering them on (I also love the Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings – two former homes of mine). Today, October 3, 2009, is the Dallas Stars home opener and I couldn’t be more excited. At 7 PM (Central) tonight expect me to be glued to Fox Sports Southwest watching the Stars take on the Nashville Predators.
As I was checking the hockey news today, I came across this video, which I thought was appropriate. I remember watching the 1980 Olympic games as a kid (I was eight years old) and my family freaking out when the USA Men’s team beat the Russians in the last moments of the game (inspiring the famous soundbite – “Do you believe in miracles?”). I watched “Miracle” years later and was able to relive a little of my youth through Kurt Russel’s delivery of Herb Brooks’ inspiring speech. In the clip, four year old Josh Sacco gives his rendition of the locker room talk from the film.
