Centex Hills Of Rivermist – Wall Threat Underplayed?
The situation gets deeper.
This morning’s news on mySA.com doesn’t paint a rosy picture for Centex Homes in regards to the “slope failure” at Hills of Rivermist. Questions over whether the wall was safe as Centex allegedly claimed in a community meeting have surfaced. Video, emails, and conversation are all cited as reasons there may have been some downplaying of the security issue, all while Centex is said to have been hiring firefighters to stay and monitor the wall in the early days.
This issue is not going to go away anytime soon for Centex Homes (and Pulte Homes). I have been seeing more and more listings in the Hills of Rivermist (and Rivermist as well, the area below the affected slope) expiring or being canceled as home owners are being forced to accept the damage this situation has brought to their area. The stigma associated with the name Rivermist is going to hard to shake for some time to come. I wish all these home owners the best in their endeavors to come to a fair and equitable solution with the builder.
