I shouldn’t be laughing.

Paging through listings of homes for sale should be a rather serious matter, but sadly, it’s occasionally very funny. My friend Gwen Banta, a real estate agent in Los Angeles, often showcases some of the “best of the worst” she finds in her local MLS (Multiple Listing Service) as well as those that many agents across the country submit to her. Gwen also adds commentary to each oddball description and you’ll find yourself laughing at things even though you’re shaking your head thinking, “why would they write that?”

Unfortunately, these are real quotes from real listings. Imagine your home is for sale and some of these are the descriptions for your home. When listing your home for sale, be sure and ask your Realtor® for a copy of the MLS listing or Google your address to find out what your home listing looks like – if it contains glaring mistakes like these, maybe it’s time to have a serious conversation with your agent.
