Happy Fourth of July San Antonio!
July 4, 2010
Happy Fourth of July San Antonio! I hope you’re all having fun; BBQing, on vacation, at the pool, watching the fireworks, marching in parades – whatever you may be doing. Growing up in Philadelphia, the 4th of July was always a grand event and I’ve spent many years down by the Delaware River watching the festivities and visiting Independence Hall (where the Liberty Bell is housed across the street). It’s always been one of my favorite holidays – steeped in tradition as well as a summer-time party, the fourth of July has always thrilled me.
Think what you want of our country, whether you agree or not with policies and parties and presidents. To me, none of that matters on a day like today. Today we celebrate the entire concept of our country and its founding. Today we celebrate the individuals and the masses. Today we celebrate the soldiers and the workers. It doesn’t matter who you are today – you’re part of America. Celebrate yourself and all that you’ve done. Celebrate the cities and towns you live in and celebrate the country that made it all possible. Enjoy your day and celebrate…American-style!
