New Features at RErockstar.com

New toys to play with.

Over the weekend, I decided to add some new features to RErockstar.com. Nothing earth shattering, just a couple of new plug-ins and changes to help make your experience of the site a little better.

New ways to share – You’ll easily notice the icons at the bottom of each post and some of you may recognize them from other sites. These pop-up buttons will make it simple to share posts you enjoy with others in your social networks. From Twitter to Digg to Facebook to Google Bookmarks, you’ll find this a lot simpler than the old sharing service that was in place on the site. Go ahead, give them a test drive.

Email this post – Down at the bottom you will notice a small email icon and the words “Email this post.” This allows you to directly share the post with your friends via email. I’m really excited about this feature as I know many people read something and think “I wonder if so and so knows this?” Now, instead of telling them to drop by and read it – you can send it direct to them. One important note: with this new feature I will see your email and your friend’s email address. However, I will not be using those emails for any kind of marketing or random mailings. Those emails are your personal business and the only data I’m interested in is how many people are sending which articles. If you’d like to contact me, please feel free to do so, but I will not contact you via the email addresses I receive from the “Email this post” link.

Print this post – Pretty self explanatory. Click the link and you will be given a clean view of the post without the menus and sidebars. This makes printing posts much cleaner and neater. However, please think twice before printing any post – conserve paper where you can.

Speed enhancements – I’m working on ramping up the speed of the site some, so keep your eye on any improvements in that department.
